The Greater Washington Community Foundation ignites the power of philanthropy, catalyzes community impact, and responds to critical needs. Since 1973, we have invested more than $1.4 billion thanks to the generosity of our donors and community partners who share our vision of building more equitable, just, and thriving communities where everyone prospers. For five decades, The Community Foundation has connected caring donors with nonprofits creating lasting change in DC, Montgomery County, Northern Virginia, and Prince George’s County. We manage hundreds of charitable giving funds on behalf of generous individuals, families, and businesses, serving as a strategic partner in pursuit of their charitable goals.
Our Work in Prince George's County
One of the wealthiest African-American-majority counties in the country, Prince George’s County has grown dramatically in recent decades. Prince George’s is a community that is “proud but honest” about its challenges and deeply rooted in civic pride and faith.
Since 1998, The Community Foundation’s office in Prince George’s County has worked closely with individuals, families, and businesses to match donor intent with community opportunity to create deeper local impact. We serve an important role in the County as a bridge between generous individuals, government and business organizations, and local nonprofit organizations. The Community Foundation’s efforts in Prince George’s County have led to $50 million invested in education, workforce development, health, and safety net services that helped improve lives and build thriving communities.
